Office Snacks: 5 Great Eating Choices At The Office (For Men)

There’s a saying: “You are what you eat.”

Well if there’s one thing we know, it’s true when you’re young and it’s even truer when you’re older. Eating the right foods throughout your workday will give you the energy and focus to perform at your best, without the crashes you might get from sugary and starchy snacks.

Eating good foods will keep you healthy and happy both in and out of the office. So instead of grabbing a bag of chips, soda, or candy bar when your stomach growls in the middle of the day, try these healthy (and delicious) snacks instead.

Snack #1: Fresh Fruit

You can’t beat fresh fruit— bananas, apples, oranges, pears, and grapes give you a ton of energy without the crash from a donut. In fact, they’re filled with so many vitamins, minerals, and fiber that they’ll help you live a healthier life overall.

Fruit is an easy snack for the office. Just take it out of your bag and enjoy!

Snack #2: Mixed Nuts

Nuts are a great source of energy, protein, vitamins, and healthy fats. (They also taste great.) Just put them in a sealable bag, plastic container, or jar and leave them on your desk. Great choices include almonds, peanuts, walnuts, pecans, and cashews— you really can’t go wrong.

Just avoid pre-salted nuts, which can quickly spike your sodium intake throughout the day. Also, keep track of how many nuts you eat each day; though nutritious, they can have a lot of calories.

Snack #3: Protein Shakes

Are you going to the gym to lift weights regularly? (You are?) Then, to make the most of your training, you need to ensure you get enough protein into your diet.

One of the most convenient ways to do so is with a protein shake. Each scoop of protein is filled with amino acids to rebuild your muscles and help you recover. Protein also helps you stay full.

Avoid buying pre-made shakes, which are often filled with artificial ingredients and additives. Just make your own, and keep them in your office fridge or a personal cooler bag.

Snack #4: Beef Jerky

Beef jerky is delicious AND healthy. It often comes in a resealable bag and is packed with protein and healthy fats to help you feel full and satisfied, without the grogginess.

Just be aware of the kind of beef jerkies you select. Unfortunately, quite a few are packed with salt, preservatives, and even MSG, so stick to all-natural brands.

Snack #5: Hard Boiled Eggs

Eggs are packed with a lot of protein, vitamins, and healthy fats to satisfy your cravings, without sugar or caffeine rushes. Eggs are also a great source of HDL cholesterol (the healthy kind), which contributes to healthy free testosterone levels.

Hard boiled eggs are a nutritious and easy snack for the office. Simply hard boil the eggs at home, and bring 1 or 2 to work to snack on.

Conclusion

The next workday, before you reach for the old standbys, try these healthy snacks and see how they impact your day. You might actually discover that you don’t need that afternoon caffeine anymore, and you might even notice a difference in your waistline.
